Namai Island - South Korean

Namiseom or Nami Island is a small crescent-shaped island located in Chuncheon, South Korea, shaped as it was flooded by the rising waters in the North Han River because of the dam Cheongpyeong in 1944. Its name derives from General Nami, who died at the age of 28 after being falsely accused of treason during the reign of King Sejo, the seventh king of the Joseon Dynasty of Korea. Although the tomb was not discovered,
there was a pile of stone where his body should be buried. It was thought that if someone took another stone there, it would bring bad luck to their home. A tour company arranged the grave with earth and then developed in Namiseom amusement park.

Namisum center offers a bike, a ride on electric car and a pool. It takes about two hours from Seoul by car. It offers visitors a direct transport service from Insadong in Jongno, Seoul. Metasequoia is a location path for a Korean “Winter Sonata” Drama. The road is surrounded by forests of white birch and white pine of Korea throughout the year. International festivals held throughout the year. The International Book Festival, the other is YoPeFe where teenagers from different countries will present their traditional dances and songs and teach them to each other. Through this experience, they learn each other’s culture. There is a recycling center, an environment in schools and a green store. Namisum used to be filled with waste such as bottles of soju and scrap visitorsfood.
